Class Excursion: River Safari

When the secondary school pals planned for a trip to the River Safari, I wanted in almost immediately.

It's been a long time since we had such an excursion together. Not including the Halloween Horror in 2010, our last trip was 2008.

(Pardon the poor photo quality from yester-year)

Though this time, our trip was to the River Safari, it was just beside the Zoo!

It was a bigger group this time with new additions such as baby Vera and Zhen's other half. (There was Ron, Iris and Raymond who joined us after lunch.)

Isn't it interesting how things change so much after 5 years? But one thing that didn't changed was the chemistry the group had since secondary school days, and how everyone had been so sporting since we were teens. Photo evidence when everyone gamingly pointed at the fake alligator for a photo.

Anyway, there is really nothing much to blog about the River Safari since most attractions were coming soon.

I was looking forward to taking the boat similar to what Jong-Kook took to the Lions enclosure in Everland (Running Man episode 141). But sadly...

It also didn't help that I didn't get to see the giant sting rays that Jeremy Wade had seen in the Mekong River.
The closest thing was the life-sized ray hanging from the ceiling. Yet, I'm sure it was nothing like the real thing.

I guess the main, and perhaps only attraction that the crowd could see, were the imported superstars from China.

Life is indeed breezy for these Chinese imports as they live in a fully air-conditioned dome that mimics their natural habitat. And just like royalties... they even eat with style!

I couldn't help but wonder if Ah-Meng had such royal treatment back then when it was alive.

Whatever the case, it was stupid pay for a photo with the pandas when we actually were made to stand in front of a green screen and the 2 panda were photoshop in. Hence, we had our own photoshoot

There was really not much attractions to see and we completed walking through the whole safari in 2 hours. But thankfully for baby Vera...the girls kept ourselves busy fussing over the lil' princess.

We even made her take some photos...My favourite was of her standing on top of the fake Snapping Turtle as I couldn't help imagining her sitting on the turtle on her own and pose for the camera. Perhaps 5 years later, we shall have the similar photo.

Anyway, having to slow down to feed baby Vera or coax her when the weather gets too hot is also a good thing.

It certainly helps pass time while we wait for the other group who joined us after lunch! And also gave us more time to grab some group photos.

We also took more photos when the rest of the group joined us as we were getting rather bored from walking past the attractions a 2nd time.

I realised that these days I love being behind the camera capturing moments, rather than posing in such unglam manner

Whichever the case, here's a complete group photo of those who made it to the River Safari

And not to forget to conclude this entry with the InstaPlace photos:

I feel like a tourist!
