Changi Karting Circuit

I really hate to be sitting on the side like some trophy wife while the husband takes on the track. But this time round, I really had to give karting a miss even though he didn't invite me along to kart. The fear of my shoulder getting dislocated is too much for me to risk it.

So I do my usual P.A. stuff again: Phototaking and cleaning his sweat.

Changi Karting Circuit ("CKC") is Singapore’s 2nd and newest karting track.

Opened in May this year, on a reclaimed land in the vicinity of Changi is an area which hosts Singapore’s Aviation Airshow every 2 years, the area was transformed into a track with just under 1.1km in length with over 12 turns.

Every weekend, CKC opens up a 4 hour slot for race karts to have their practice done within the grounds. And since there was an old race kart sitting in SK Garage, the boys decided to bring it down for a spin.

His excitement to hit the tracks was so overwhelming, it's hard not be grouchy that I can only stand by the side to watch.

But I hate to admit that he looks charming in his new AlphineStars Kart Suit.

While the race kart slot was open for practice, there would be occasional slots for the fun kart session where the public could play the in-house karts for 10 minutes at S$30.

Group photo of the everyone (except me) going onto the fun kart session.

I felt even more grouchy when the girlfriends took it to the track too and he can't stop raving how fast the girls are going.

Thankfully there was this cute pair of twins that melted my heart.

Their driving style seem rather similar, and the cutest part was their unique hand signs to each other on the track. And when they had a minor disagreement, they reminded me of my brothers.

Best part was when they were leaving, they waved goodbye to everyone present. Such loveable kids!

My favourite photo of the day was capturing the boys standing by the side and looking on. Check out my caption:

Men will always be boys at heart when it comes to their toys.

Lucky for my "happy OOTD" that hid my grouchiness. I really felt like my ego is being trampled on when I'm (possibly) too injured to play? Perhaps its time to start racing again to remind him of the charm that he fell in love with.

I even had Lego earrings to match my Happy OOTD. But my face is still grouchy!

P.A. to a (wannabe) Racer

These days, I've added a new job to my resume:

PERSONAL ASSISTANT - to (wannabe) Racer Shawn.

My job scope includes the following:

1. Advise on car set-up best for track and daily driven

I may not know the 101 of how a car works. But trust me when I say it takes just common sense to tell him which choice is obviously better. Seriously, sometimes guys can turn girly when it comes to their car and constantly bug you to help them choose which is better for their car.

2. Advise on game plan during track

I feel like a coach whenever I do this: FOCUS. Get that timing. You are the FASTEST.
Especially moments when he comes back from his laps, depressed that some parts of the car just spoiled. I think of a practical solution while he settles the technical part.

But there are times when I do that "wifey stuff" by saying, "You don't get 2:35 or below, you are sleeping on the couch." and it works!

3. Media coverage

Ever notice that there are plenty of photos from the track session, and these photos are properly "censored"?

Even though the photos appear on HIS facebook, it's all done by me.

Yes, I'm the photographer too. And the one who edits, then post onto the social media.

Hence there usually isn't any photos of me during track day except for this where the event photographer took for us.

Even this photo looked like I was photoshopped in!
And I had just taken a photo of the guys if you noticed the camera on my hand.

The last description of my job scope is one that could put me in the Hall of GREATEST Wife:

4. Self-sacrifice

I don't know how to label this job description, but it had cost me my diamond ring for my birthday this year.
In exchange for his passion for racing.

So guys, if you think why I had attacked this crate with my camera as soon as I reached the garage that day,

I'm just taking photo of my DIAMOND RING.

Lifestyle Motorsports Track Day

Spent the weekend playing PA to him during the LMS Track Session.

It's a joy to be there for him as he returns to the pit faster after each laps.

He knows he got himself a gem when his logistics are taken care of and his game plan is well laid out for him whenever there's a hiccup.

Now how many racers got themselves a wife that does all that and more?

Yet another Sunday at the Pasir Gudang Circuit for the last Track Day of 2012.

Luckily I had my pinwheel to accompany me!

All things Sparco, in preparation for track day.

It was a great day to hit the tracks...

He's all geared up for the race he's been deprived of...

The sky remained clear the whole time we were there.

I'm all that he sees as he zooms pass.

When asked why:

In his own words, "So I will go faster n come back see u again"

Grinning away as he satisfied his need for speed.

The winner in the middle.

Racing for his Jona's garage.

The boys of SK Garage.

Loving this photo.

KL ROADTRIP 2011 APRIL

22 April 2011 Friday

Going back to KL again since we love our previous roadtrip. Since it was the long weekend, we started the day a lot later than the last time, and got ourselves suck at the 2nd Link for 2 hours.

That didn't spoil our mood.

We even found pleasure in enjoying the beauty of nature.

The sun rays shining through the clouds is rare beauty.

Our 1st stop over, Malacca.

For our usual chicken rice ball.

We were too late for the famous chendol @Jonker St, so we made do with the one at the chicken rice ball place.

Ever tried burnt sugar?

We finally reached KL at 11+pm, and was too late to meet up with some friends who were already there. So we went to Pappa Rich near the hotel, which got us craving for more.

It's hard not to like that sweet toast and peanut butter filled toast.

23 April 2011 Saturday
Started the day with yumcha together with J, Nikki & Wayne. Went shopping around eCurve while Nikki & Wayne went to prepare for the night's activity.

It's nice seeing my BFF and my hubb hang out together.

Grabbed some food at The Original Kayu before heading to Sepang Circuit.

My new-found favourite

Maggi goreng

His kway teow didn't appeal to me.

At nightfall, we headed to

SEPANG CIRCUIT

It was the Fast & Furious meet conservative asian society.
i.e. NO BIKINI BABES.
There were some race queens around though, but their only appeal: they were the least clothed in a country of conservative people.

You should see the hum-sup guys with their DSLR pretending to want a photo of the cars.

That aside. We were there for the cars!

Those that WOW

opps. Did I just exposed your trumpets?
and those that drew sniggers.

what siol?!

And not to forget the main reason we were there

Nikki

His Evo is one rare JAP car

Ok, I'm kidding. Licence plate is fake.

It was nice to see how the N1 team performed at the race

Coming in 1st for the open category with the car that sounded so fierce even as it idle.

Standing by the track, watching the cars go past can get abit boring, but that was the downside of a night race.

Tried forcing him to camwhore with me

But can tell that my boy is itching for some action too as he stared longingly at the tracks

Tell him that we will arrange for a team to join the race and look at the way he smile

Anyway,
It was nice hanging out with Nikki & Wayne that night

We left for dinner as the race continued into the night. It was after all called the "Saturday Night Fever" for a reason.

Went back to the steamboat place which J first brought us when we visited him last year.

It was a feast for us both.

24 April 2011 Sunday
J finally told us what was the delicious mee we had whenever we go to The Original Kayu after Zouk.

Indo-mee

Turns out it tasted better when we're drunk.

Anyway, it was great to have J around as our guide in KL.

Not to forget, having A&W on the way back.

This is why, we will be going back SOON!
