Wedding Photoshoot 03: Botanic Gardens & TWR

The final wedding photoshoot was one that require plenty of coordination and even luck for the weather to be on our side. Thankfully, it was plenty of sunshine despite the rain on the previous days!

Flowers were bought from my favourite florist at Kovan Market the day before, which cost S$9 for a 9-stalk bouquet of Gerbera and another S$4 for bouquet of purple Baby's Breath.

Our props featuring the birdcage from Chatuchat Market (Bangkok), Alphabets from Typo and Purple Baby's Breath.

I love how beautiful and fresh the flowers despite the low price. Hence, do check out their stall just behind the MacDonald's at Hougang Street 21:

I even ordered balloons from Balloons Blasters where the nice people advised me on getting balloons stuffing!

The balloons were the priciest among our props with the total price of S$100 including delivery. However, the photo effect was very unique!

I also arranged with the nice people of The White Rabbit to allow us to do our photoshoot within their premises even though our Solmnisation was held there 3 years ago.

Haven't got back our photos from the shoot, but I've decided that our photos will only be on display during our wedding day.

But do check out the wedding blog for occasional preview of photos as we count down to our wedding.

Wedding Photoshoot 02: Sepang International Circuit

Just got back from Penang and it was a journey up North again for the long awaited pre-wedding photoshoot at the Sepang International Circuit.

Since  we have decided our wedding theme to be related to how we met, things that spell motorsports will clearly define us. A close friend of ours, constantly organising events at SIC,  was able to provide contacts with the coordinators of SIC. Hence, we were able to liaise with them to do a photoshoot there at a fee of RM600, including the usage of the track from 17:00hours to 18:00hours.

It was tough to coordinate an exact date with them giving that the location is constantly being used for races, practice laps or even concerts. But after many emails, we finally settled on 18 September 2013.

As for the photographer, we wanted save the hassle on bringing a photographer up North, so we decided to search for a local photographer online. Google was a good place to start and I was able to find one that suited the style that we wanted.

The pre-wedding package quoted was rather attractive, complete with a MUA.

(Quote based on April 2013, subjected to change.)

The morning started with the MUA Angela arriving at the hotel room to get me ready for the photoshoot.

I love how my hair look with the 2 tones. Think I'd be sticking to this hairstyle for the wedding too!

I was done by 12pm and we headed to SIC to meet Hui from Foohui Photography.

We wasted no time in starting the photoshoot since time was limited. Hence, there were no behind-the-scenes photos except for this rare opportunity to drive our car into the Grandstand!

It was tough doing a photoshoot in the full racesuit for him. And worst still for us both to be posing for the camera since we were not the sort who love to pose. But when we saw the preview of photoshoot, we know that all our effort was worth it!

Thank you Hui for the beautiful photos captured. Can't wait to get the full album in December 2013.

Wedding Photoshoot 01: Casual themed shoot

Most friends would know that we are one of the most laidback couples. If we could have it our way, we would do away with the Chinese traditional stuff and just stick to our ROM wedding: casual and simple. Just like us.

I guess it's of little wonder when I plan for all our photoshoot to be done in a very casual manner.

With the Chinese Lunar 7th month ongoing in the past 4 weeks, we weren't allowed to do anything related to the wedding. Now that it is over, we are starting on our photoshoots!

Our first photoshoot is at the Garage since it would be related to our wedding theme. (I'd blog about the wedding theme soon on the wedding blog, I promise!).

The outfit is inspired by the mechanics, and we chose white so that it would stand out against the dirty background.

My make up and hair is done by Karen Lin ( www.facebook.com/MakeupByKLin ). Really love how she separated by colored hair to give the bun a unique look.

Since the setting is at the Garage, there was no props needed. But we bought a bunch of purple roses, my favourite!

We bought the roses at S$1.20 per stalk from Kovan Market, the stall nearest to MacDonalds. Cheap or what! This is why I always return to that same stall for my flowers for any occasions.

It was a fun photoshoot done by Joe Chan, the photographer behind all that awesome photos on Naise Clothes. And by the end of the day, we had 1 photo for preview.

I think we look great! Can't wait for the rest of the photos.

In the mean time, I love the smoky eyes that Karen did for me.Can't stop taking tons of selfies.

Wedding stuff

I have been using the internet to search on wedding stuff a lot these days. From the AD Videographer to the wedding favors, I'm making sure that our wedding will be the BEST EVENT I've ever planned. Even the hubby has agreed to give me a crazy amount of budget to work on. I really couldn't ask for more.

Look out for updates on our wedding blog soon.

In the mean time, been shopping for footwear for the AD and here's what I've bought on Qoo10.sg so far:

It looks rather cheap in person, but in photo, it resembles a glass slipper IMO.

Oh well, I'd be buying whenever I see any footwear that I like and keeping it till the AD before I decide.

Thank God for my height, allows me to be comfy in flats and still not be lacking in height.

My next purchase shall be this:

I can already picture myself wearing this with one of my dresses.

HIS outfit for pre-wedding photoshoot

It's been a lot of planning for the wedding these days.

And I've been very thankful that as we get nearer to the date, his excitement is starting to show too.

I know I haven't been very faithful in updating about the wedding preparations, but here's one to start:

More to come as I talk about our wedding theme, and main colors for the gatecrash event.

Bridesmaid outfit

I wonder how long would I procrastinate if Esther didn't dragged me to City Plaza and Bugis to shop for my bridesmaid outfit. That girl is really all talk + action, and I know I can depend on her for my wedding.

We managed to get 6 bottoms during our shopping trip last week. And today, I was suddenly reminded of some purple tops I had wanted to sell on the blogshop.

We are both surprised by how well it matches!

How does that feel for a "Race Queen" look?

Pity I only have 2 of this cropped shirt. Time to start searching for more in the similar shade!

Afternoon Tea - Tiong Baru Bakery

I remembered the feeling of having afternoon tea for the 1st time after so many years of working. Sitting at Soup Spoon at Raffles City Shopping Centre and watching the crowd go by. That feeling of freedom was priceless.

1 year later, I am still free. Very free now that my Grandparents no longer have any doctor's appointments to keep me busy. Not that I don't like being busy with them, but having their company for the right reason is better than going to the doctor's all the time.

Being free from the doctor's visits had also allowed me to make arrangements and preparations for upcoming wedding. Speaking of which, I had just collected 2 of the wedding gowns I purchased online to be used for the photoshoots. How exciting!

Shall share photos of the gown when I got decent photos to share. In the mean time, here's to a lovely afternoon tea at Tiong Baru Bakery while we waited for the seller to hand me the gowns.

Awesome pastries and that HOT CHOCOLATE!

Gowns

Exciting moment today as I fell in love with a gown that I tried while deciding on signing a package with Bridal Affairs.

Tho I've KIV the gown, I believe that I'd eventually say "Yes" to that dress.

Thankful for having Esther there to accompany me and Shawn while sharing my excitement. The actual gown fitting will happen in October, and I can't wait to have my mum there with me.

In the mean time, I'd be looking at purchasing other gowns for the photoshoots.

Many friends have urged me to get this dress for a very unique location...

This looks very much my style too!

Makeup By K.Lin

Sometimes it's great to have a friend to understand how you feel:

to ditch your day job at this age and start something that you are passionate about.

Karen was my best-friend during school days in Ngee Ann Poly. She was my lecture mate, my tutorial mate, my project mate, my lunch buddy, my tanning-kaki. We even love to go shit together after lunch. That was how close we were!

When we left school, we went our separate ways as I started uni and she went on to become a beauty advisor. Life pulled us apart, but our friendship remains as we constantly meet to catch up.

These days, life somehow brought us together again as we both embark on an uncertain journey of starting afresh in an industry that we are both strangers to.

Starting out a blogshop enables me to rope Karen in to help in the make-up and styling of the models. However, since I haven't been active in my blogshop recently, Karen decided to get me to help her instead.

We finally arranged a time that we were both available for her to try some bridal styles on me, which would also come in handy for my wedding.

Her make-up case is in a pretty shade of pink!

Couldn't help a self-shot of me without make-up as I thought I looked funny with all that pink velcro on my hair.

Pardon Karen looking so plain as she working from home since she stayed just one street away. Usually she is really pretty.

As I didn't had any styles in mind, I decided to give her free rein in making me pretty.

Here was her first style:

Suited for a Princess, the hair-style won the likes of many friends who loved how it showcased the different colors of my hair. Tho tiara was not my thing, many praised the princess-look the style gave.

The second style was my favourite even tho she had no idea beforehand that I had secretly loved such style.

The hair-do framed my face so well that my usually big face looked small. I even looked every bit like a bride!

Now I couldn't wait to see her work her magic on my blogshop models and even on my wedding!

If you wish to contact her for her make-up or hairstyling services,
email her at makeupbyklin@hotmail.com or

There is so much on my mind: Doctor's appointments, ensuring grandparents take their medication, etc.
Not to forget the many things in my "To-Do" list, which I couldn't strike any off without proper research.

The trip Ikea to look for a sofa-bed for Grandpa was rather disappointing when none of the items seem to be suitable. We went back empty handed but with a good idea of where to get certain props for our wedding photography:

And a stomach filled with meatballs and chicken wings!

Hopefully I could get more done tomorrow!

The "unveiling"...

Today we start our countdown to that long over-due wedding ceremony.

Can't wait to finally wear that white dress!

Blissful Saturday...

Wedding site inspection this afternoon for 1 of the 2 locations we shortlisted.

More about it in our upcoming Wedding blog.

Since we were in Orchard area for the day, we headed in search of a place for tea. But Saturdays really isn't a good day to be in the crowded Orchard shopping malls. Everywhere had a queue!

We finally found a place with not much of a queue:

That fries with the beef stew dip... was AWESOME!

But not as awesome as the simple dinner we had with MY parents & HIS Grandpa & HIS mum.
The whole dinner was so heart-warming, I almost cried especially when Dad put his arms around HIS Grandpa like some long-lost buddies as they walked.

Love PURPLE!

I've been asking myself if I should get purple roses for the wedding...

Not only do I LOVE PURPLE, it holds a significant memory in our early days falling in love.

Wedding Photoshoot inspirations

Decided to take a little trip to Spotlight @ Plaza Singapura before meeting Jas & Jo for dinner.

The ideas I gathered is enough for a series of wedding photos!

I can't wait to get started!

On a side note, this is the reason why we are not saving on that race suit :

How cheesy!

Awake all night and couldn't sleep much.

I'm too busy working on things because my mind couldn't stop churning out ideas:

  • Wedding blog
  • Wedding photoshoot
  • Wedding gowns
  • Wedding location
  • Wedding theme
  • WEDDING

At first I was hesitating whether to orchestrate this whole thing single-handedly.  But I want to do so... having neglected any planning for the biggest milestones in my life previously:
Turning 21, Graduation Convocation, ROM-wedding.

I've always planned THE BEST parties; friend's birthday surprise cum Halloween night out, hubb's birthday surprise, Esther's hen's night etc.

Now, it's my turn to do something for myself.

I found the wedding dress I want...

I bet I'd look great in it.

Do you agree?

Saturday, March 19, 2011

Just realised that I haven't posted the photos which I uploaded that day for December 2010.

Anyway, that was one of the best month ever since it was the time when:
  1. I got married!
  2. I got the longest leave ever.
  3. I travelled to BKK for the 3 time in less than 1 year.
  4. Counted down to 2011 with my long-time buds at Bintan.
  5. Got inked!

I shall let the photos do the talking.
